Portugal plugs itself in
Glad to read this article in the Global Post about Portugal’s commitment to electric cars. The government plans to have 100 electric-car stations operational by the end of the year and 1300 on line by the end of next year. As the article notes, Portugal is Western Europe’s poorest nation, which perhaps gives impetus to its quest to shake off the shackles of energy dependence. Photo by Seuss in NC

That combined with renault’s new electric cars may be a good start. Once started the process will probably explode in the EU. Problem was that this start has been stopped at all costs until now. That’s probably the reason why the poorest nation in western EU(which is actually richer than almost all nations in the eastern EU) is doing it.

Good on you Portugal. Electric cars have been around for so long now, even Henry Ford bought his wife one in 1908.
Here in Australia we are developing ‘Off the Grid’ a transmedia project which will look at Australia’s energy resources and history.
We are fitting out an old army truck with solar panels that will fold up and power the electric motor to take our team around Australia, through the desert, visiting wind farms, looking at nuclear power, going to coal plants.
